The program celebrates the new 25th Anniversary Edition of Schlosser’s landmark 2001 book, Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, and the 20th anniversary of Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation (2006)
When a fast food chain experiences a meat contamination event, a marketing exec takes a journey to the dark side of American alimentation.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase, followed by a signing with Schlosser.
First published in 2001, Fast Food Nation exposed the ways the fast-food industry reshaped American labor, agriculture, public health, landscapes, and daily life. Five years later, Schlosser joined Linklater in adapting the book into a fictionalized film that follows the human and industrial systems behind an all-American burger.
Twenty-five years after the book’s original publication, Schlosser and Linklater come together to consider what has changed, what has not, and how the forces the book identified continue to shape the way we eat and live. The 25th Anniversary Edition will be published on September 22, 2026.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase, followed by a signing with Schlosser.
