Freaked - 35MM | The Surreal Nightmares of Screaming Mad George

Screen Slate Presents
Psycho-Fiction: The Surreal Nightmares of Screaming Mad George

One of the quintessential early-’90s cult films, Freaked was adapted by Alex Winter and Tom Stern from their psychotronic MTV series The Idiot Box. Winter plays a vain Hollywood actor who takes a gig promoting an evil South African fertilizer company. But an airplane incident lands him in the middle of a grotesque amusement park, where he is transformed into a member of its expansive freak show. A deliriously grotesque live-action cartoon, Freaked is a carnivalesque melange of eye-popping make-up effects and fun-house set design. It also features an all-star cameo casting ranging from Gibby Haynes of The Butthole Surfers to Mr. T, plus masked appearances from Keanu Reeves and future Wicked director Jon M. Chu. Must be seen to be believed.
