JT Selects: Club Films - Movies that Inspired Club Cheetah

Rapper JT (@thegirlJT) brings her club-world vision to Roxy Cinema with four films that helped inspire her forthcoming album, Club Cheetah. A singular voice in contemporary hip-hop, JT—formerly one half of the Miami rap duo City Girls—has built a hugely successful solo career around wit, glamour, and nightlife. Her selections—Showgirls (1995), Blade (1998), Shakedown (2018), and Zola (2020)—trace wildly different versions of life after dark: the glittering Vegas stage, the late-night vampiric hangout, the underground Black/queer strip scene, and the exhilarating freedom of a weekend spent chasing the party. Together, they reveal the many moods and possibilities of club life that shaped Club Cheetah.
