As the camera orbits him, Joey Frank struggles to convey an idea about astrology to a rotating group of guests. In 2006, in a manic episode in a matinee of Little Miss Sunshine, Joey Frank had an epiphany that he attempts to recreate by watching the film again. 14 hours of stopping and starting gets boiled and trimmed down to 101 minutes, so that Little Miss Sun Sign is the same length and size as the film from whence it came.

Little Miss Sun Sign ultimately addresses syncronization as a mental and planetary principle. Starting with a Lacanian therapist and her son, the film has a range of experts and novices, each a facet of the quixotic conversation.

ABOUT THE DOWNTOWN FESTIVAL:
The Downtown Festival is a multidisciplinary celebration of independent film, music, art, and culture held across Lower Manhattan each October. Founded and directed by filmmaker Rebekah Sherman-Myntti, the festival brings together artists across disciplines and generations through film premieres, anniversary screenings, live music performances, artist talks, and special one-night-only events. Programming is led by Sherman-Myntti and Associate Director Briana Bursten, with a focus on discovery, experimentation, community, and genuine artist-to-artist exchange. The festival’s film program runs October 9-18 at Roxy Cinema, with additional programming and special events taking place all over downtown.
