In anticipation of their upcoming album, Melodie (out September 18th) Slow Pulp presents a 35MM print of David Lynch’s The Straight Story, followed by a Q&A with the band and @marg.mp3!

“When choosing a film for The Roxy we knew we wanted to highlight a film that has roots in our home state of Wisconsin. For us, the straight story evokes a certain nostalgia for what it felt like growing up in the Midwest that other films don’t quite touch on in the same way. It’s slow and quiet in a way that is strange for a film, but really captures the feeling of the people and places we grew up around.” — Slow Pulp

The Straight Story — David Lynch, 1999
Leaving his Iowa home and sister (Sissy Spacek) behind, Alvin Straight (74-year-old Richard Farnsworth in a revelatory, Oscar-nominated performance) rides his lawnmower to Wisconsin to reunite with ailing brother (Harry Dean Stanton). With an infectious warmth and characteristic attention to oddball specificity, Lynch’s enthralling road movie is one of the finest depictions of the Midwest in recent cinema.
