A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master - 35MM | The Surreal Nightmares of Screaming Mad Georgee

Screen Slate Presents
Psycho-Fiction: The Surreal Nightmares of Screaming Mad George

Freddy Krueger’s popularity was at his peak for A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s fourth installment, which more or less abandons any pretext that it is not treating the wisecracking undead childmolester as the hero. Often referred to as “the MTV entry” in the series, Nightmare 4 represents the absolute zenith of pre-CGI, practical horror effects in a big-budget popcorn spectacle. Screaming Mad George is the mastermind behind the surreal cockroach transformation sequence, which wizened gorehounds often rank among the series’ very best kills.
