“The Isdal Man” is a film by Gus Dapperton that follows René Simon, an American who travels to Bergen, Norway, to investigate a mysterious cold case more than fifty years old, The Isdal Woman, for his vlog “Hidden in Plain Sight.”
René’s journey intertwines with Sven, a local, and Anna, a captivating woman he meets at a club. As René delves deeper into the city’s secrets and his own personal struggles, he forms a complex relationship with Anna, leading to unexpected and eerie encounters. The story culminates in a shocking twist involving ancient Nordic rituals and the true nature of Sven and Anna’s intentions, revealing a dark and mystical connection to René’s fate.

The Downtown Festival is a celebration of emerging and established independent artists across film, music, art, and culture in New York City. The festival’s film program runs October 10–18, with premieres & anniversary screenings at Roxy Cinema, and additional events, including live music, artist talks, and special programs, taking place at venues across Lower Manhattan.
